Frequently Asked Questions
How do I request a training?
Scroll up a bit and click the button that says “Request a Training.” Or click the same link here!
How much do trainings cost?
I wish I could provide a clear, straightforward answer, but it depends on a lot of things! First and foremost, I want the training to work for YOU and YOUR budget. That might mean we need to cut down the length of the training, for example. Cost also will depend on the size of the group. If it is a smaller group, the cost will likely be smaller depending on the training content requested. If it is a large group, the cost will likely be larger! Overall, I want to practice talking openly about money in order to honor your time and needs, and my expertise and labor. All trainings are at a cost.
Do you provide continuing education credits?
I do not independently provide continuing education credits, but I am happy to work with organizations that provide them. Once I am licensed as a psychologist, I plan to start working toward providing CE trainings for counselors, social workers, psychologists, marriage and family therapists, and others. Stay tuned!
Are trainings online or in-person?
Typically, I provide trainings online so that participants and I can easily join from anywhere! You may request an in-person training should you have the budget to fully cover the cost of my travel.
What are your trainings like?
As a mental health clinician, my training approach tends to be relational, engaging, and participant-centered. For example, I encourage participants to interrupt me - because the training should be beneficial for YOU. If something is unclear or needs to be restated, I work to hold lots of space for that. As an academic researcher, my trainings include up-to-date research and rely on best practices for education and facilitation. I work to be responsive, relatable, and to best meet the needs of the participants - even if that means I need to pivot from my plans. My shorter trainings (1-2 hours) tend to be more lecture-based. My longer trainings (3 or more hours) always include discussion and activities such as roleplays.
What is your experience with training?
I have been a public speaker since age 6, when I started participating on my elementary school’s Forensics team - a competitive public speaking team. I was the only student in my school district to participate every year from 1st to 12th grade, winning gold medals at State all four years of high school. At the same time, I was also a theater kid, acting in plays and musicals. Forensics and performing turned into a love of teaching and training. Throughout graduate school, I have been a Teaching Assistant for three classes and the Primary Instructor for three, including as an Adjunct Professor. At the same time, I was also developing and providing suicide prevention trainings for students, staff, and faculty at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, as well as community members in Madison. I ultimately developed the curriculum for a home-grown online training for students and facilitated nearly 50 in-person trainings. For this work, I won the University of Wisconsin-Madison Student Employee of the Year Award in 2020. When the COVID-19 pandemic started, I began providing trainings online for various organizations, including my local Planned Parenthood affiliate. During this time, I also joined Exhale Pro-Voice as a Textline Counselor before quickly moving into a Textline Coordinator role. With my colleague, I completely overhauled the Textline Counselors’ training and facilitated several rounds of nearly 30 hours of their training. Given the success of this training, I began providing snippets of this training to the broader repro community including Hey Jane, reprocare, and others. While this was through my position with Exhale Pro-Voice, I always independently led these external training efforts, fine-tuning the training materials as I went. When I left my position with the organization, I was supported in taking my training materials with me as they had always been mine. I am excited to continue doing this very needed work now as an independent trainer!
